You are likely eligible for an new 30% federal tax credit for the purchase and installation of a Kuma wood stove. To be eligible for this credit, make sure you invest in a high efficiency heater like Kuma's new LE-1 line of low emission wood stoves. (Cook stoves do not qualify).
3. 30% of the cost of the stove, hearth, and installation can be claimed as a tax credit on your federal tax return.
How to claim the credit:
1. For tax software users: Claim the credit in the "Home ownership and residential energy credit" section when working on your federal taxes. For paper filers: IRS Form 5695, line 22a will be the place to claim this credit. New IRS instructions will be released in the near future.
